nn EFCC boss unable to say how much the agency has recovered from looters
The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu who appeared before the senate today, March 15 has failed to reveal the exact money recovered from looters by the anti-graft agency under him.
Magu when asked by Senator Duro Faseyi, how much the commission has recovered so far under him, he was unable to give a definite answer to the senate's question, Daily Post reports.
During his screening, Magu was unable to say the exact amount recovered from looters by the agency under him
Senator Duro Faseyi who asked Magu: “How much funds has been recovered since you took charge of the commission?”
Magu reportedly said: “I don't know how much. It is difficult to give report on how much has been recovered from fight against corruption. It is very difficult for me to say.”
Recall that Magu appeared before the Senate today, March 15, for a screening, a step towards his approval as the chairman of EFCC instead of the acting position he currently occupies.
Meanwhile, the Senate has refused to confirm Ibrahim Magu's appointment as the chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The Senate's decision to reject Magu followed a report from the Department of State Services (DSS) which again disqualified the EFCC chief based on his failure of an integrity test by the secret police.
According to Senator Dino Melaye, there were two reports from the DSS that indicted the acting chairman of EFCC and proofed him unfit to be confirmed.
